Who We Are

Avocado Foundation was founded by Santiago Maria Del Giudice after living in a rural school in Kangundo Town and, in this way, experiencing in first-hand the living conditions of students, teachers and the surrounding community.

We are in constant search of schools in Kenya that don't have access to water or lack basic infrastructure. Once we identify these schools with the help of the community, we activate funding campaigns to provide solutions to each problematic, always focusing in children's safety and well-being

What We Do

New Classrooms

We construct classrooms where students had to take the classes outside because the ceiling was falling. Having a class under a tree is a nice experience but when it rains, classes are suspended, leaving the students behind in their learning

Water Access

In schools with no water access, students have to walk to the nearest market to buy water at high prices, losing school hours in this process. We construct boreholes, water connections and solar-pumping systems when schools lack electricity

In addition, when we find that the water problematic extends to the surrounding town, we construct a kiosk for the school to sell the water at low prices and then use that money for repairments

New Toilets

Poor sanitation is the chief contributor to waterborne diseases, causing more than 438.000 deaths of children under 5-years-old per day

School Fees

Although schools in Kenya are public, the families still have to pay a fee before the school year begins. This fee is for school materials, uniforms and hygiene items. We support the students from families that cannot pay the fee, so the students may continue going to class

Braille Machines

We work with schools for the visually impaired. These schools have the braille machines to teach them how to read and write but students don't have this equipment at home, leaving them unable to practice and usually forgetting how to read and write once they graduate

Health Treatments

We support students in the treatment of conditions that could not be handled by the public healthcare system

The cost of treatment will vary according to the condition of each student
